In these challenging times, what is a positive patient experience

I know what it’s like to be a patient–but COVID-19 is now teaching everyone! As an NFL player I survived a life-threatening battle with Crohn’s disease and then Hepatitis c and it led me to found Legacy Health Strategies, a patient experience agency that has always valued the voice of the patient which, in today’s challenging times, is proving to be critically important.

I recently met Valen, an amazing young lady who has endured an extraordinarily difficult life living with Polycystic Kidney Disease, requiring her to have a kidney AND a lung transplanted. She recently wrote:

“It is as though the world is currently living like an immunosuppressed transplant recipient and getting a better understanding of our life.”

As we quarantine in our homes and worry about catching the coronavirus, we get a glimpse into the lives of the many immunocompromised patients who spend their entire lives worrying. At Legacy Health Strategies we understand the significance of patient experiences and incorporate their voices into everything we do, whether training nurse navigators, deploying patient ambassadors, designing adherence programs, or creating effective marketing campaigns.
